Bob Geiger, MDiv, MA

Upon completing both his Master of Divinity and his MA in Pastoral Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary, Bob honed his bilingual counseling skills in both church and community development work for more than 15 years, in Bogota, Colombia. After returning to the US, Bob and his family moved to Lancaster where Bob spent several years ascertaining ways to support marginalized populations in the city. Bob founded City of Refuge Brethren in Christ Church, a house church dedicated to providing spiritual community for men completing drug and alcohol treatment or leaving incarceration. He also became involved in housing initiatives for both immigrant families and returning citizens. He also joined other community leaders in developing services for those re-entering their community after drug and alcohol treatment or incarceration. Part of Bob's work was to develop group therapies for smoking cessation and prison-work-release. Through his contacts with caring authorities within the legal system, Bob was instrumental in the development of an innovative program that offered treatment options rather than prison sentences for people struggling with addiction. Additionally, his career included Out patient Clinical Direction for the Spanish American Civic Association and decades providing drug and alcohol, forensic, and general mental health counseling at various local agencies.

A bilingual practitioner, Bob's clinical interests lie in the areas of addictions counseling, treatment of clients diagnosed with severe or acute mental health disorders, and the use of group therapy as a tool for healing and recovery. He believes client well-being entails holistic bio-psycho-social-spiritual support.

Bob does not participate with health insurance providers but is available to take new clients with a self-pay option, including Health Savings Account (HSA).
